FI expands from upper to lower hierarcy with more detailed information. The inquiry progresses in the sequence of Section/Broad-Facet --> Class --> Subclass --> Main Group/Facet --> Subgroup screens. An example is following.

When "FI" is clicked on the Patent Map Guidance top page, the following screen is displayed.


FI-Section/Broad-Facet-Selection


When "MENU" is clicked, Patent Map Guidace closes and the screen returns to the Industrial Property Digital Library top page.

TOP
When "TOP" is clicked, the Patent Map Guidance top page is displayed.
BACK
When "BACK" is clicked, the previously displayed screen is displayed.
NEXT
When "NEXT" is clicked, the screen returns to the screen displayed befo re clicking "BACK".
Revision Information
When "Revision Information" is clicked, the screen of Japanese FI revision information is displayed.
FI (section)
When "FI (Section)" is clicked, the FI Class Selection screen of each section is displayed. In the example, (A section, B section...) stand for sections.
(Notes)
When "(Notes)" is clicked, the FI Section (Notes) / (Index) screen corresponding to each section is displayed.
Broad-Facet
When " Broad-Facet" is clicked, the Broad-Facet List is displayed.
When the following steps are taken, the screen below is displayed.
-On the Patent Map Guidance top page, enter FI (section) in the query box, then click "Search".
-Click "FI (section)" on the FI Section/ Broad-Facet Selection screen.

FI-Class-Selection


Upper hierarchy
When "Upper hierarchy" is clicked, the screen of the next higher hierarchy is displayed.
FI (subsection)
What subdivided the section. In the example, (MACHINE) stand for subsections.
FI (class)
When "FI (class)" is clicked, the FI Subclass Selection screen of each class is displayed. In the example, (A01, A21...) stand for classes.
(Notes)/(Index)
A click will display the /(notes) (index) list screen corresponding to each class, or a subsection (notes) / (index) list screen.
When the following steps are taken, the screen below is displayed.
-On the Patent Map Guidance top page, input FI (class) in the query box, then click "Search".
-Click "FI (class)" on the FI Section/ Broad-Facet Selection screen.

FI-Subclass-Selection


FI (subclass)
When "FI (subclass)" is clicked, the FI Main Group / Facet Selection screen of each subclass is displayed. In the example, (A01B, A01C...) stand for subclasses.
(Notes)/(Index)
When "(Notes)/(Index)" is clicked, the FI Subclass (Notes) / (Index) List indication screen is displayed.
When the following steps are taken, the screen below is displayed.
-On the Patent Map Guidance top page, enter FI (subclass) in the query box, then click "Search".
-Click "FI (subclass)" on the FI Subclass Selection screen.

FI-Main-Group/Facet-Selection


Main group title
The title of a main group. In the example, (Insecticide; noxious organism invitation agent) stand for main group title.
The end of a title
The end of a title is expressed. In the example, (——) stand for end of title.
FI (main group)
When "FI (main group)" is clicked, the screen corresponding to the Indication Type is displayed(List Indication, Target Indication or The same hierarchy Indication: Selected on the Patent Map Guidance top page.) In the example, (25/00,27/00...) stand for main groups.
(Notes)/(Index)
A click will display the /(notes) (index) list screen corresponding to each main group, or a main group title (notes) / (index) list screen is displayed.
